It is common knowledge at this point to most that water is a vital component to sustain normal functioning biological mechanisms but today we are going to further the importance of water as we discuss it as it relates to your fat-loss efforts.
Research shows that by ingesting at least 1.5 liters of water that the body would burn an extra 17,400 calories a year. In terms of weight-loss this would equate to approximately 5lbs without doing anything else. Obviously if we put an emphasis on adequate water intake this would result in some reduction in other caloric intake from fluids. This again aids in creating a caloric deficit and helps in the weight-loss effort. The research suggests that the higher caloric expenditure is caused by a demand to heat the ingested water.
Water is obviously an important thing to consider for optimal health and hydration but it can also be a key tool in the attempt to obtain a desired a bodyweight when joined with proper nutrition and exercise.
